Fundraising 2013 Autumn

FUNDRAISING By Derek McGlashan

July 13th saw 20 brave fund raisers pounding the London streets in temperatures reaching around 90 degrees to take part in the London 10k run. 3 Trustees joined the runners although they have to admit to walking the course. Samir Agrawal, Chonette Taylor and Derek McGlashan all completed the course.

Well done and thank you to all those whom took part and raised a total of just over £5,000. Top 3 fund raisers were Richard and Catherine Hitchcock, Team Wilkinson and Derek McGlashan whom raised just over £3,000 of the total between them. A big thank you to Jack Wilson for organising his team so well. See you again in 2014 Jack and Team.

CLLSA were also represented in the Sherwood Marathon on the 29th September by two fundraisers, Jimmy Rogers and Andrew Lane. It was Andrew’s first half marathon and he returned a very good time of just over 2 hours. Well done Andrew. Andrew says he enjoyed his first marathon so much that he intends to do it again next year.

Unfortunately the places in the Cardiff half marathon were not filled so there is nothing to report on that event.

If anyone is taking part in a run, walk or similar note that we have T shirts available for your use at the event. Shirts can be provided free of charge but we do ask that you pledge to raise at least £100 and open a just giving page in the favour of CLLSA.

For further information or to get our help with organising your fundraising please contact derek.mcglashan@cllsupport.org.uk We thank you for your ongoing support. Derek McGlashan Trustee.

We had two fund raisers taking part in the Great North Run, Tanya Cox and Sharon Bell pictured above. Well done both of you. Were they star struck in meeting Bob from Emmerdale? - not a bit as they are stars themselves in their efforts to raise funds for CLLSA.

A comment from Molly, a team member. We did it ! We all ran and finished the London 10k raising funds for CLLSA.I am so proud of Team Wilkinson, husband Jack, sons Tom, Laurie and Max, Jacks fiancé Laura, their friend Martin and of course me Molly, whom has CLL. It was such a hot day but the numerous water pick up points had everyone pouring water over their heads and running wet and cool. I had planned to walk the course but ended up running, my red face at the end paid homage to my efforts. I still can’t believe I completed it. Thanks to all our sponsors and those who turned out to cheer us on and help us keep going.
