Fundraising The 10K British Run July 8th 2012

The 10K British Run  July 8th 2012

This was the first major event organised by CLLSA involving a Team of fund raisers and took place in London on 8 th July 2012.

The runners arrived on a rainy Sunday morning, one runner’s comment was “at least it kept us cool”. Everyone deposited their belongings in the rather damp pavement cloakroom and did various exercises to keep themselves supple and ready for the off.

The fastest time was 40 minutes with several only just missing this and our two walkers achieving 1 hour 53 minutes. Well done to you all.

Generally it appeared from the feedback that all those taking part enjoyed the event although a few would have liked it to have been longer, (we are working on this).

All runners did well in raising funds but one shone out as our star of the day. Russ Shaw, raising an amazing £2,445 and £2,804 after gift aid. A hearty thank you goes out to Russ and all the fundraisers from the Trustees and Members of CLLSA.

We must not forget our two Trustees who took part, Dr.Samir Agrawal and Chonette Taylor. Samir returning a very good time of 48.38 minutes and Chonette walking the course in 1hour 53 minutes.

We are commited to the British 10k for the next 2 years so hopefully you will all join us again in 2013 and who knows 2014.

Sorry that we could not include all your pictures in this edition of News Letter but we will be reporting on the final figure in the winter issue and will include some more there.

Finally a huge thank you for all your efforts and to the support given by your Family and Friends. And, of course, to all those who dug deep and sponsored you.

The event was intended to be fun and of course to raise funds to support CLLSA. If the fun has matched the superb result of the fund raising, then based on the amount raised you must have had a lot of fun. Between all runners ,at mid July with some funds still to come in,we have reached a staggering £6,514 raised and with Gift Aid added this amounts to £7,534. We had some expense in securing places for participants but even after deducting this we have a result of £6,634
