David completed the "Morrisons Great Birminghan Run" last month (on Oct 18th). It is a half marathon, and David finished in just under 1 hr 37 minutes, even though he was dressed as "The Hulk!".
This year David chose to race the Great Birmingham Run for a cause very close to his heart. His mum suffers from Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia, so David wanted to raise money for a charity "that has really helped her over the last few years".
David had a few mishaps with practice runs in "Hulk" costumes before the actual event.
“Had a wardrobe malfunction on Saturday, when I ran in full costume. At mile 1, the fan fell out, and at mile 2, the fan stopped working. I had to unzip my costume, fix it up, but the zip then broke as I tried to zip myself up again! Might need to rethink this costume.”
His final costume wasn't quite as dramatic as the earlier costume had been, but it was easier to run in!
David raised a total of £600. David's run before for other charities, but has never achieved this level of support. David reckons that's because he mentioned it on the CLLSA at HU on-line community and some generous gifts came from our "CLL family". https://healthunlocked.com/cllsupport
From David: “Thank you SO SO much for your generosity, and for helping me reach my target of £500! I've actually increased my target now, as I was over 100%. I don't think I'll reach £1000, but it would be amazing if we could! You guys are great!”
