On Thursday I visited Healthunlocked in London for an adminisatrators workshop and to explore with the HU management team their current workflow, commitment and future plans in supporting our community and all those on the HU platform. You will be pleased to learn that our CLLSA CLL support community at HealthUnlocked remains one of the most successful exemplars of what can be achieved to help people live with their condition. This is a result of your work together as members of this community to help each other. Well done everyone.
The Flyer is hard at it cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats as a challenge for someone living with CLL to raise funds to help support the work of CLLSA.
Yesterday the Flyer arrived in Scotland after nine tough days in the saddle and tributes the day's ride from Keswick to Moffatt to Tricia who sadly died on 8th June
Today three brave fundraisers tackled The Dragon Duathlon to raise funds for CLLSA,
The Dragon Duathlon is a brand new, unique extreme duathlon event where participants have to travel the length of Wales non-stop, riding coast to coast while tackling the Welsh 3 Peaks by foot. The target; complete the course in under 24 hours.
Lyndon’s team achieved this in an incredible 20.5 hours
We need your help, we have had half a dozen team CLLSA places come available..
Are you a little crazy and fancy a challenge with friends at short notice? ? Do you know a group who you could challenge? Or just fancy challenging yourself?
Support Jules with his marathon bike ride this summer as he raises funds for CLLSA and Bloodwise.
“You may all know that I raise funds for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research but there is another charity that we all couldn't do without; The CLLSA - I think we would all agree that we would be a lot worse off without them.
David completed the "Morrisons Great Birminghan Run" last month (on Oct 18th). It is a half marathon, and David finished in just under 1 hr 37 minutes, even though he was dressed as "The Hulk!".
This year David chose to race the Great Birmingham Run for a cause very close to his heart. His mum suffers from Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia, so David wanted to raise money for a charity "that has really helped her over the last few years".
David had a few mishaps with practice runs in "Hulk" costumes before the actual event.
On Sunday CLLSA runners took to the streets of London in the 2015 Vitality British 10k London Run. The fine summer weather held, feedback received so far; is that it was a great success and day out for our brave runners, their families and friends. Many achieved record times with CLLSA trustee Dr Samir Agrawal finishing in 50 minutes with CLLSA coordinator Sarah’s team and Jen and Tim’s team all finishing in 65 minutes. The information is still coming from all teams so the picture and information is not yet complete.
Well done Kathryn for successfully completing the Great Midland Fun Run on the 31st May, in a time of 1hr 46mins over a distance of 8.6miles.
